Pickaway County Fair

Joy Sharp of 4-H Youth Development took the time to speak with us about 4-H and to share with us a little bit about themselves.

“4-H is a non-formal youth development program offered to individuals ages 5/kindergarten through age 19.” Joy states, adding in that “Among all the fun things to learn about in 4-H are animals, computers, public speaking, leadership, cooking, art, gardening, natural sciences, and much more. No matter what you select, all 4-H programs focus on active involvement and quality experiences that stimulate lifelong learning of values and skills.”

You can participate in 4-H by joining one of 36 clubs throughout the county. Clubs are led by wonderful volunteers who assist members in running a meeting, completing projects, participating in community service, and most of all – having fun!

Along with 4-H, there are other groups involved with the fair as well, such as: Girl Scouts, FFA, FFCLA and the Boy Scouts.

We spoke with Alise, the sole bear coordinator of the Logan Valley Service Unit, and their involvement in the Pickaway County Fair.

Alise explained that “there are different projects and contests for the girl’s to participate in while at the fair,” as a way to get them involved. The Logan Valley Service Unit is the name of the unit that all of the Circleville Girl Scouts are in, having scouts from all over Pickaway County.

The Pickaway County Fair will be happening June 16th through the 23rd of 2018.
