Synopsis: With a little help from their future selves, Lucy and Wyatt, along with the rest of the team, journey to the California Gold Rush and the Korean War’s Hungnam evacuation in a daring bid to save Rufus and stop Rittenhouse once and for all.

When we last saw our beloved Time Team – Rufus was killed, the team was injured, hurt and grieving. The future Lucy and Wyatt had made a special trip back in time to encourage the team to change history, and save Rufus.

..Oh, and the show was canceled for a second time.

Thanks to another uproar from fans, the show was saved again, and we were given the hope of a conclusion that would make the entire fandom happy. Speaking as someone who was with this show from the very beginning, it made me VERY happy (and emotional).

Unlike other time travel shows or movies (here’s looking at you, Back to the Future) – you can NOT travel to a time period you already exist in. Doing so will result in dizziness, headaches and quite frankly, lead to insanity. At least, that’s what the first couple of minutes after the recap made pretty clear, when future Lucy started getting a sharp pain in her head. They risked their lives to drop off Lucy’s journal, which ultimately lead to the team getting Rufus back.

While the writers, cast and crew were only given a short period to write, film and produce this movie, they still managed to make history.

In a mere one hour and twenty-five minutes, they were able to wrap up a story that should have taken place over a few seasons. Throughout this special, there was lots of laughter, gasps, yelling (mostly from me) and some tears shed. Jabs were taken at NBC (for canceling the show), nods were made to the fandom (Jan, HeliCLOCKters) and everything left up in the air was miraculously touched on and taken care of.. but the writers left an ending open enough for the possibility of the adventure starting up again.

That said, the show is far from over. If the ratings and response impresses Sony and other networks, there is a good chance it will find a home and continue on elsewhere.
