Yes, yes, and yes! It’s “National Book Lovers Day!” While it’s origin is unknown, August 9th is recognized on a global scale as the day to celebrate BOOKS. Since the Dimple Times is the brother company of a bookstore we knew we had to help celebrate more. So here are 7 ways to celebrate if you are a book lover like we are.
Read a book to a child
I mean seriously. What better way to pass on your love for books than to share it with someone else? Find a child, read a book, create a book lover.

Visit a locally owned book store
Not only are we a little biased on this, but truth be known we love small businesses and the personality they add to our communities. When it comes to bookstores in those communities they are often a mirror of what is around them and the people that live there. Why? Well, if they are a used bookstore many of the books come from the community itself. If they offer new books the books are curated to meet the needs of those communities.
Here is at least one bookstore from all 3 counties we currently distribute the print edition of Dimple Times in.
– Fairfield County – Paperback Exchange – 201 W Main St, Lancaster, Ohio
– Ross County – Wheatberry Books – 41 S Paint St, Chillicothe, Ohio
– Pickaway County – Keystone Books and Gifts – 138 W Main St, Circleville, Ohio
PLEASE NOTE: If you know of other bookstores in the area please feel free to list them in the comments.
Find an old favorite, then read it again
Isn’t it amazing how you can reread a book and pick up little bits of information that you missed the other 230 times you’ve read it. Go ahead, search out an old book and enjoy.
Visit your local library
Libraries are a great source for books….TONS OF BOOKS. The great part is you can experiment in a genre you may not be used to.
Here are a few options for the main libraries in each county.

– Ross County Library
Read a book at a local park
Grab your favorite book, maybe a lawn chair, sunscreen, a cold drink and visit a local park near you. The ambiance and beauty would add a wonderful backdrop.

Read a book at a local coffee shop
Mmmmm. The smell of a real book and coffee.
Why not grab a book and stop by your favorite locally owned coffee shop. Yeah, we know some national chains are good but there is something special about that little coffee shop.

Donate books
If you have a box full of books you no longer want there are many ways to get those books in to the hands of someone who can use or repurpose them. From local government, day cares and schools to shelters. There is always someone who can help carry on the love you had for those books. Shoot, you can even take them locally to some places like Paperback Exchange or Keystone Books and Gifts for them to resell. It’s a great way to keep them in your community.
Books are like MAGIC
No matter what your situation. Happy, sad or otherwise. A book can help you escape in ways you could never imagine. We like to think they are magical. So no matter why you love or how you celebrate National Book Lover Day be sure to pick up a book.
