What will you fire up on the grill Labor Day 2019?

While Labor Day was originally made a national holiday by President Grover Cleveland and other lawmakers way back in 1894, many states had already been celebrating it for several years.  In the early years Labor Day was celebrated with parades but now, as the unofficial end of summer, Labor Day has become not just about the parades or even camping but more of a day to relax and GRILL OUT!

The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council declared Labor Day as the end of their “peak” season  that runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day each year.  According to their website, “During peak hot dog season, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, Americans typically consume 7 billion hot dogs. That’s 818 hot dogs consumed every second during that period.”

While National Burger Day is in May each year there is no doubt that hamburgers are one of the hottest items that will be grilled out this labor day.  Some estimates show that burgers are 20-30% more popular than the next closest rival, hot dogs.  No matter how you grill it, hamburgers are still a big deal for Labor Day grills across the US.

Coming up pretty much tied in most studies as the most popular item to grill out on Labor Day is chicken, steak and ribs.

According to Wallet Hub, Labor Day is the 3rd most popular holiday in the US and to us one of the biggest highlights of it is GRILLING OUT.   What do you like to grill out?
