The Christmas Star: A Love Story – Book Review

The Christmas Star A Love Story

The Christmas Star A Love Story

By Robert Tate Miller, 2017c., 176 pages

The title, The Christmas Star: A Love Story, indicates you will be reading a love story of course. Oh, but what a ‘love story’ it is. The story is written with the main character, Paul Bennett, narrating his life; his perfect life, his perfect wife, and his perfect family. Until one Christmas brings an unthinkable tragedy. Paul turns to drinking to help him forget his troubles. He loses his family, his wife and now hates Christmas.

One Christmas, Paul has an accident resulting in him losing consciousness. He travels back in time waking up surrounded by shepherds guarding their sheep. Confused and bewildered, Paul gets to know the shepherds and learns of their plans to travel to Bethlehem to see the newborn Christ in the manger. Paul joins them on their journey and learns valuable lessons of love, peace and hope as he experiences that wonderful night under the stars of Bethlehem.

A love story, yes, it most certainly is. Told from a man’s perspective instead of a woman’s as most love stories are. This story is well written with very good characterizations. The author takes us all right into the manger and shows us just what Christmas is all about, the birth of Jesus and what it means, who He is and the power of His very presence in our lives. I could not put this book down. It is an amazing story of love and the true reason for the season, Jesus Christ.

Merry Christmas Everyone!
