Eat local, shop local, think local – but what if you don’t know what is local? A search on the internet can be a help, but sometimes the internet doesn’t always have all the information need to show what is around you locally.

Thankfully, there is a place locally that does have a lot of that information – whether it be about events in the community, a specific type of restaurant, or a list of great locations to shop… Visit Fairfield County in Lancaster, Ohio is a non-profit with the information you’re looking for.

“Our job is to sell Fairfield County,” Fran Tiburzio, the marketing director of Visit Fairfield County shared.

The goal for their organization is to attract people from outside the community to come down and visit, but they also help those locally know what’s in and going on in the area.

Getting those locally and those in other areas outside of Lancaster and Fairfield County is a huge help to the local economy, Visit Fairfield County Convention and Visitors Bureau needs the help of the local businesses and organizations having events to get in touch with them whenever something exciting is going on.

“If people at organizations or businesses are doing something, activities or events, or they have sales going on or anything like they have visitors coming from out of town, and they’re hosting a conference – anything we need to know, so we can greet their visitors, so we can promote the events, so we can talk about what cool things there are to see and do here in Fairfield County,” Fran responded in regard to their needs from the community.

She goes on to state the importance of spreading the word, by adding: “We need people to let us know what they’re doing, so we can let everybody else know what they’re doing.”

As a non-profit geared towards the Fairfield community, their mission is to help Fairfield succeed – primarily in visitors and locals bringing in economic growth to the area. It’s a huge benefit to Fairfield as a whole, and they hope that they can share the importance of that mission with everyone.

“Tourism is a big economic driver, so when we get people to visit Fairfield county – they’re shopping, they’re eating in restaurants, they’re buying gas, they’re staying in hotels, they’re doing all kinds of things that improve business, and [that] improves the economy.” Fran relayed.

What many don’t realize, is how much Visit Fairfield County does for the area – and how much of what they do in regard to promoting is free for businesses. With their shopping trails and local food guides, it helps get the information about what is around in the hands of those visiting and looking for something new, and it helps bring growth to the area.

Any job, position, or role in an organization can have its difficulties – but having those things to overcome does not slow Fran or those at Visit Fairfield County down. In fact, it can be a huge achievement for all of those participating.

“This is a terrific job to have – it’s challenging, it’s fun, I get to meet and work with all kinds of different people throughout the county, it’s very rewarding,” Fran admitted, a hint of excitement in her tone.
