PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio (Dimple Times) – Pet parents of the Pickaway County area can participate in a special week that is dedicated entirely to their animal friends! From June 8th – June 13th, the Pickaway County Visitors Bureau is hosting a week that will give pet owners the chance to show off their pets as well as show their support to local businesses.
Jenny Rhoads of the Pickaway County Visitors Bureau was able to share about a few of the awesome activities that will take place during pet week.
“Pet parents can share photos to participate in the digital pet parade. They can take their pets out in the county and take a photo. We will also be accepting donations for the Pickaway County Dog Shelter at The Welcome Center, Rosena’s Treasure’s, and Christopher’s Boutique in Circleville,” Jenny explained, when expressing the details about pet week. “The best way to get involved is to be out and about in our community and shop local whenever possible.”

The plan initially was to offer a Pet Day that would be similar to the Pickaway County Visitors Bureau’s past Third Thursday events but with social distancing guidelines put into place during the COVID-19 situation, the Visitors Bureau knew that the event would be safer to host virtually.
“When the COVID-19 social distancing guidelines came about, we realized that [a public event] would not be possible,” Jenny shared, “But as we have been working on this event, I think this will become an annual occurrence. Once social distancing guidelines are lifted, the possibilities are endless.”
Pickaway Pet Week is free to participate and will primarily be a virtual event, even for those that don’t have social media. The goal is to ultimately show love and support to the businesses of the Pickaway County area and to show off some adorable pets!
“The digital pet parade is basically a photo-sharing opportunity, it is not a contest,” Jenny explained, going on to add: “We want to see everyone’s pets! Each day has a different theme, and we hope to see a large range of types of pets.”
Throughout this all, the Pickaway County Visitors Bureau hopes to offer a fun, memorable event that is safe for all and that will hopefully give Pickaway County pet parents and businesses some recognition.
“Through the use of social media, we hope to bring awareness to pet parents and their families. This event was created with social distancing in mind,” Jenny shared. “We want our residents and visitors to see what is available right here in the county. We hope this can help make Pickaway a well-known place where visitors can bring their pets on their travels.”
