In previous years, a similar challenge was issued when local pizza restaurants gathered on one night to have a big pizza challenge. The best pizza as voted by guests who attended the event would get to display a special trophy until the next pizza challenge took place. While things look a little different this year because of the COVID-19 situation, this didn’t stop the Visitors Bureau from planning an event that is equally as fun – one that will allow them to still vote for their favorite pizza.

“We will still be awarding the coveted trophy known as ‘The Slice’ for the people’s choice,” Jenny said. “We also have some celebrity judges that will be helping with some of our other awards from years past such as best specialty and judge’s choice.”

After participants visit four of the pizza locations to get their passphrase, they’re eligible to vote for their favorite pizza place.  The People’s Choice voting will close on August 21 and the winner will be crowned on August 29.

The fun doesn’t end there, however. Participants will be excited to know that the challenge to visit all the pizzeria locations will last through November 30, where the first twenty individuals to completely fill in their passport will be guaranteed a one of a kind “King of the Trail” t-shirt.

“We really want to get people out and about in our county. The trail requires patrons to travel to the restaurants and hopefully have some great experiences and delicious pizza!” Jenny said. Going on to add, Jenny shares, “I am excited to try new restaurants. Even as a lifetime resident of Pickaway County, I still have not been to every location on the pizza trail. I hope that the pizza places see a spike in business as well!”

Passports can be picked up at the Pickaway County Visitors Bureau, as well as some of the participating pizzerias. Participants can also look for the unique Pizza Trail sticker in the window of the pizzerias that are participating.
