Zooloretto ZMan Games Boardgame Review

Who doesn’t like a day at the zoo? Who has not thought it would be fun to run your own zoo? NOW you can – playing ZOOLORETTO will allow 3 to 5 animal lovers to play zoo director!

There are eight different animals and multiple types of food carts to fill your zoo enclosures. Each Zookeeper has 3 areas to fill, each with a single type of animal. Also, each area also has a place to build your choice of food cart for your guests.

Each round starts with a number of delivery trucks each that holds three animals, equal to the number of players coming to your zoos. In order a player can do one of a few things, you may draw an animal blindly from the bag and place that animal on a truck. You may instead, take a truck of animals and have then delivered to your zoo, or finally do you spend some of your money to upgrade certain parts of your zoo.

The choices while simple are hard to take. Do you take the truck that may not be full but has a couple animals you need to fill your enclosure? Do you draw another animal hoping to put an animal in one that will help you later, or do you expand or remodel your zoo?

The game end is triggered when there are just a few animals to fill the trucks. Scoring is based on how well you filled your enclosures. Did you get six elephants in your big area or only five? Bonus points are awarded if your areas have a food cart nearby. You can also lose points with you have more animal types than you have enclosures. So choose wisely and let’s see who can build the best zoo!

Did I mention that there are babies as well? Have a mommy and daddy in an area and you get a baby animal to place. Who can resist a baby Panda at a zoo?
