5 Board games to play over the holidays

Thanksgiving & Christmas are comin’, and Covid has us in its grip. We are with our families and what better time to bond with the family than over the table playing games while snug at home for the holidays.

The boardgame market is going crazy right now! They are flying out the doors at stores.

Here are a few game titles to help you and your family to try out, join the growing boardgame hobby – and have FUN over the coming months. Never hurts to give presents early!

1)  Ticket to Ride New York, Ticket to Ride London, or Ticket to Ride Amsterdam

All of these are under $20 – can play 2 to 4 easily and take about 30 minutes to play. They are designed to be intros to their larger counterparts – BUT not at the expense of the fun.

2) EXIT the Game (Many titles)

These are under $15 – From 1 to 4 can play these COOPERATIVE games. They take an hour and are the follow the clues – solve the mystery type games. They can only be played ONCE! Let’s just say Scissors may be needed to finish the game.

3) CodeNames

Under $20. Plays 2 to 8 and is a word guessing game with a twist. Players should be a little older maybe high school just because they would need a larger vocabulary. Maybe an hour in game length.

4) QWIXX

Around $10. Plays 2 to 4 – Dice rolling Madness! Plays in about 30 minutes.

5) The Crew – Quest for Planet Nine

Under $15. Plays 2 to 5 – A co-operative trick-taking card game – 30 minutes.

Games are a perfect diversion at any time of the year. Games over the holidays are great amongst family and friends. Following rules, learning to deal with winning and losing are great lessons that simple games can teach!
