The Happy Camper by Melody Carlson – Book Review

The Happy Camper by Melody Carlson

The Happy Camper by Melody Carlson

I fell in love with the cover of ‘The Happy Camper’ by Melody Carlson and just had to read it. The title made me think of fall camp outs, bonfires, roasting marshmallows, and hayrides. Sadly, none of those things takes place in this book. ?

Dillon Michaels loses her job and leaves her boyfriend all in the same day. On a whim she decides to uproot herself from the big city of Denver and move back home to her Grandpa’s place in Oregon. Unfortunately, her eccentric mother has beat her back to her Grandpa’s house and moved into Dillon’s old room. So Dillon doesn’t have to sleep on the old couch in the living room every night, Grandpa gifts her an old camper that is stored in the barn. She is ecstatic over the old camper and begins to restore the camper herself.

Throughout the book you are introduced to various towns people who bring joy and laughter to the story, along with the antics of her eccentric mother and adorable grandpa. As Dillon restores the camper, she joins a local, vintage camper group where she meets other people her share her passion. Of course, the love triangle plot is part of the story as well with the local hardware owner/hero Jordan and the old boyfriend, Brandon, showing up to try to woo Dillon back to Denver. ‘The Happy Camper’ is a cute story and a quick read. Author Melody Carlson always brings faith into her story’s and makes you feel good. Enjoy.
