Boardgames for couples

Boardgames for couples

Nothing on the tube, tired of breaking out the old childhood copies of games, what is a couple supposed to do??? Here is a quick list of great two player games in different genres to liven up that couple game night during the winter COVID-19 months or any time you are shut in.

The FOX in the FOREST

The FOX in the FOREST

Like all the simple trick taking games we all have played this one is no different – EXCEPT there are cards that will allow you to change the trump, allow you to lead the next trick if you lose the previous one, or when you play a certain card you can discard another card in your hand and draw a new one … and many more game changing cards.

Santorini

Santorini

You are a builder – you move around a 5 by 5 grid and build buildings. You can move onto of them and build them even higher. The goal is for YOU to reach and stand atop a third level high building. Do that and you win. Of course your opponent, who you thought was your friend will not allow that and has been to thwart you in your goal to climb to the top before they do.

Patchwork

Patchwork

You are trying to build a better quilt that your opponent. What better goal than that in the dead of winter. You are working on a 9 x 9 grid and buying patches of different sizes and shapes to create a fabric masterpiece!

Hive

Hive – Bees

You and your opponent are Bees and you square off with your army of insects to surround and capture your opponent. If you love bugs and simple strategy games like chess where different bugs move in different patterns across the table then you will love HIVE.

Battleline

Battleline

Your army stands across the field, and you are up against a formidable foe. Can you capture three flags in a row or 4 of the seven on the field in front of you? You use your cards to play your armies in three card “formations” against each flag. The winner as determined by the “best 3 card hand” wins the flag. So a Straight Flush will best a three of a kind. Simple play a card and draw a card, and you are off on your battle. Of course there are some cards that change the rules a bit – like this flag will be determined by four cards and such …
