Have you ever watched reality shows and wondered why they pick such ‘perfect’ looking people to be on them? The perfect size, the perfect hair, the perfect smile, etc. Well, the “One to Watch’ by Kate Stayman-London brings the whole reality show business to a surprising level with her main character Bea Schumacher. Bea is a very stylish plus-size fashion blogger. She is loved by friends and family, and a mass of followers on social media. She seems to have it all; but appearances can be deceiving.
She has a broken heart from a recent love loss. She doesn’t let it show on the outside, but the hurt inside is great. Therefore, she has sworn off dating altogether.
Then she receives a call from the hit reality show, Main Squeeze, with a request that Bea come on their show and let them help her find love. At first, she is shocked they would even think to ask; then she starts to think about the world and how people see things, the lack of diversity, body diversity, on the show, and finds herself agreeing. The story takes us through her meets and greets of potential suitors, their family and friends, and their adventurous dates together. It exposes her thoughts and feelings as a plus-size woman in today’s world; and awakens some hidden emotions as well. Finally, bringing all to a season finale when she is set to make her final main squeeze selection. But can she trust her heart to someone again?
