HIC-UP

hic-cup

Years ago we were eating at Hardee’s in Circleville when our youngest son was about five. He had already chosen his meal and was waiting for the rest of us to finish ordering and for the food to be prepared. Isaac was standing at the drink fountain trying to decide what drink he wanted. After seeing what drinks he had to choose from, he asked if he could have HIC but pronounced it like hick. At first, we couldn’t figure out what he meant until he pointed to it. He didn’t realize that the hyphen was there and just thought that the drink was named HIC instead of HI-C. Sometimes it’s the little hiccups in pronunciation or interpretation that are the variety that adds the spice in our lives.
