A home simply can’t have any heating, and the heating it does have needs to be as efficient as possible, both heating the home well and also being as eco-friendly as possible. There are actually many possible ways to heat a home, so let’s take a look at a few of the best. Any of these are likely to be decent options for your home.
Oil
One of the oldest – and still one of the best – ways to heat your home is with the use of oil. If you have never looked into this before, it’s actually quite simple. Essentially, you just have a heating oil tank, which uses oil to heat the water in your boiler to provide the central heating with. This can work very quickly and efficiently, and it is a very affordable way to heat a home, especially a smaller home. Consider oil if you don’t want to have to provide much upkeep for the heating – the oil doesn’t need changing very often.

Biomass
One relatively modern way to heat a home is with the use of biomass heating. Biomass simply means that it makes use of a natural, organic material in order to provide the energy for heating. This material might be logs or wood pellets, for instance, and it can be a very quick way to provide heat for heating and hot water. You could achieve this by installing a wood burning stove and then installing a back boiler on it to provide heat to a radiator, thus giving you a way to have central heating too.
Heat Pumps
It would simply not be a complete list of efficient heating options if we didn’t mention heat pumps – in particular, ground source heat pumps. Essentially, this is a network of pipes underground with water in, and the water is moved back and forth from the house to the ground. By moving it in one direction, heat can be created – and in the other direction, the water can be cooled. This is one of the greenest energy methods around for heating a building, so if you are doing a new build this is worth thinking about.
Space Heaters
In truth, space heaters are not all that efficient – but if you are careful about how much you use them, and you only do so in a room where you really need to, then they can provide you with a decent extra way to heat some of your home. They can also be a good option for smaller homes, so if you are building a small self-contained property this can be a decent option to consider.
As you can see, there are many options to choose from. Any of these are going to be worth looking into, and they could each be the best choice for your next project.
