Every year, when the cold weather rolls around, we know it is time to be prepared for the coughs and the colds that come with the season. But is there a way that you can prepare and avoid getting sick over the winter holidays? Here is a quick guide to ensure that you stay healthy this winter.
Know what treatments are available
This might sound like a strange one, but a lot of people don’t know what health care options they have and what is available to help them. The healthcare industry is a complicated one and the different medical areas can be confusing. Don’t worry if you are not sure about concepts and need things such as Medigap Plan A explained to you. What is important is that you inform yourself and search out help and guidance to help you navigate the medical area.
Wear a mask
You might have a different view about wearing a mask from other people, but one thing is for sure, the people who have been wearing N95 masks have not suffered from as many colds and cases of flu over the last 18 months as they normally would. While we understand part of the reason for that is because people were not out as much, there is no doubt that N95 mask work. There are plenty of people who have realized that in avoiding catching Covid, they haven’t gotten sick at all in months. We don’t know what your view is on masks, but that is some pretty impressive evidence to wear one.
Wash your hands
On the back of the wearing a mask point comes the washing your hands point. As a society, we are not that great at washing our hands. We really should wash our hands when we come back into our homes and before mealtimes. But, a large percentage of people don’t do this and then wonder why they are sick. Wash your hands for around 30 seconds with warm water and soap to help remove germs and any nasties that might make you ill.
Take your vitamins
When it comes to your diet, are you getting the right amount of good stuff from your food? There is a chance that your diet lacks the necessary vitamins and minerals to help your body fight off infections. If you can, invest in an easy to take multi-vitamin to help boost your immune system. There are other things that you can take such as local honey and special anti-virus syrups that can help to stop the common cold from attacking you.
A great way to save money on vitamins is to purchase your most used ones at some place like Sam’s Club. The great part is if you join Sam’s Club now for $45 you’ll get a $45 gift card via email in 2-4 weeks to the email address used at sign up. So not only do you save on vitamins, but you save on your membership.
Eat more fruit and vegetables
Eating well is one of the best things that you can do for your body. Not only will you be boosting it with vitamins, you are less likely to put things in your body that will harm it. Eating fruit and vegetables does not have to be boring, as there is a wealth of vegan inspired meal planning out there to help make your veggie choices more exciting. Of course, you don’t have to go full vegan but it is nice to option yourself up to the different options that they hold.
