Privacy Issues Child Christmas Shopping

For many years, we have taken the kids to buy Christmas presents for their siblings and the other parent. This particular time, Caleb and Lyndsay (about 6 years ago) went with their dad to do some of their Christmas shopping. They knew they were going to be out later, so they planned to eat dinner while they were out.

When they got home, they came into the house. Lyndsay hadn’t realized I was right inside the mudroom doing some laundry. She came in and when she realized I was there, she said, “Excuse me. Dad and I have some privacy things to do! We have to wrap Christmas presents.” Her tone was so serious, and she sounded so grown up, that I just had to chuckle – it was adorable. I’m gonna miss having all these cute real life stories happen when the kids are older. Guess I’ll have to look forward to when I become a grandma!
