If you are wanting to sell your home then you will need to put it on the market. Before you contact the realtor to do this, there are a few things that will need to be done both inside and outside your home. This is to ensure it is in the best possible condition for potential buyers looking around. If your home is looking tired and shabby then this could put people off, and you may not get a great offer or any offers at all.

Declutter

The first major task to do before you put your home up for sale is to get rid of all the unnecessary junk within your home. When you sell your home you are selling it as a shell and while you may not be able to take everything out of it before you sell you can do things to help. The problem with having clutter lying around when potential buyers come around is that they won’t be able to envision their own belongings in your space. You will also be filling the space available so again, the buyers won’t be able to see how much space they have to play with.

To declutter, it is advisable to go through each room and sort your items into four piles. These should consist of the keep, throw away, donate, and sell piles. If you do this you will be shocked at how much stuff you don’t actually need.

Repair

When it comes to selling your home you want it to be in the best possible condition. The question you have to ask yourself is would you put an offer in if you viewed a house that needed extensive, potentially expensive repairs doing to it. If you have a long list of repairs, no matter the size, then now is the time to do them. One area to be wary of and check before you put your home on the market is the roof. If you have a leaky roof, you may not be aware until the damage has already been done. Later on down the line, a leaky roof can lead to dampness in the ceiling, walls, and floors. This can be expensive to rectify.

Check The Exterior

The outside of your property is just as important as the inside. If the inside looks pristine and brand new, but the outside looks tired and worn down, then you will run into problems with buyers. The first thing they see is the exterior of your property when they turn up for a viewing. If they don’t like the look of it or think you haven’t looked after it and maintained it well enough, then they may have reservations about looking around the inside. It could not only lose you a sale but a viewing as well.

If you are not up to maintaining your garden, you could call in the professionals to help you with this. Residential lawn care services are there to help with all your gardening needs.

Thoroughly Clean

Finally, once everything else has been done, and you are getting ready to call in the realtor to get your property on the market, it is important that it is clean. It needs to be thoroughly deep-cleaned in order to sell for a great price, nobody wants to move into a dirty home. Every room needs to be clean and tidy, especially the kitchen and bathroom. You need to ensure that any black mold is gotten rid of and they are sparkling.
