Signs your business process is far too confusing

Your business process is at the very heart of keeping your company together. It’s what ensures efficiency, helps you to make financial calls, and it’s how you decide where to take your business next. But from time to time, your process might need restructuring, and you should know the signs when your current plan is doing you no favors! To help out with that, we’ve listed a few below; keep them in mind when you keep on hitting a brick wall with the day-to-day operations of your company.

You Regularly Stop to Wonder Why

If you’re currently working with a process that’s often left you marvelling at the unnecessary steps, it’s the biggest sign your workday is far too complicated. Wondering about the way things are done, and imagining a better world where things are simple, are thoughts that should always be listened to! Forget about tradition, or about the examples you’ve been set – if you want to try something new, why not allow your business to be the forefront of change?

You’re Misspending Your Resources

The resources at your disposal are going to be limited for a long time to come, and yet you’re not sure how you’re currently spending them or where you could improve your cost margin – this needs to change!

A business process you can’t even track properly is a totally confusing and inefficient one, and you may even need to get some experts involved.  For example, someone like an insurance broker to make sure your risk and liabilities are covered, and you’ll definitely also need an accountant to check how balanced your books are.

You’re Constantly Missing Targets

Missing a business target or two can happen, and it’s usually no big deal. However, if you’re always falling just short of the goals you’ve set, one of two things are happening here: either you don’t know what you’re doing (wrong), or your business process is far too confused and can’t be followed (more likely!).

You need to simplify things, and always keep that big goal in mind. It’s why we list objectives on business plans, and why we work with marketing agencies to put together a campaign – do some research, experiment a little, and see what methods work best and/or feel the most comfortable to you.

You Never Know What’s Happening

And finally, are you aware of how your business even operates? Do you know who does what? Do you know what funds you’re working with? Do you know what your customers want and/or expect from you? Because if not, this should be a wake-up call.

A business that doesn’t know why it’s even a business will not last long, and an analysis of your current activities should be underway. Think about how you work, where people are, and what’s holding you back.

The business process simply details how you operate. If you’re not sure how this works, or if it’s even working, it’s time for a change.
