The Trudgery of Life – Poetic Pauses

Standing alone
within the mist of darkness
searching fearlessly for a guiding light
to help me understand
those scattered thoughts within my mind.

As I trudge onward through this blindness
I carelessly stumble
falling down within a dark pit
which returns me to the beginning
of this long, hard journey.

Often times
I consider giving up this adventure,
but that would seem too simple,
much like failure,
so gradually I climb the same steep cliff
cautiously watching each step taken,
for now I am determined to succeed
turning back is just too easy.
