Tenley Roth’s first book was a success; written while she was grieving the loss of her devoted father who raised her in present day New York City, a successful author in his own right. Matter of fact, she comes from a long line of famous writers. But now as she works on her second book, she is feeling the pressure from her publisher and has developed a terrible case of writers’ block. When her estranged mother asks her to come stay with her in Florida while she goes through chemo treatments, Tenley is skeptical but feels she must go. Perhaps a change of scenery will help.

However, Birdie loves to write, but must do so in private, as writing is not a profession or a hobby that her mother approves. She attempts to have her novel published but is rejected only to find several months later her book was in fact published under a famous author’s name. She doesn’t understand and seeks to find out why.
