The lyrics of the song “Ceasefire” by “for King and Country” resonates with me – and not just because they accurately describe the situation today. This particular verse always stuck out because it reminds me that no matter where I stand, who I walk beside, or where I go in life…NONE of us are spared from the reality of being imperfect. None of us are doing so well in this life or in our spiritual walk that we are not prone to unfairly judging those who are close to us, or those we do not know. If we were to look at ourselves the same way we sometimes look at others disdainfully, you would find that you too, are far from being a perfect being. We can, however, make a difference by loving people unconditionally, as is said later in the song.
Ceasefire
by for King and County
I will be the first to say I’m far from perfect
But grace was made for those who don’t deserve it
So easy to cast the first stone
It’s harder to search your own soul
No one ever wins when the goal is to settle the score
