Act The Part
How you act around others tells people a lot about who you are and the type of person you are. If you are loud and boisterous, people may find you intimidating. Alternatively if you are too quiet people may be less interactive with you when meeting you for the first time. Being able to read a situation and adjust to it, is very important and by doing so you can be the best version of yourself. Depending on your personality, try and find a middle ground where it’s easier for people to understand who you are and for you all to have the best time.
Dress The Part
The way you look is one of the first things people will judge you on. By dressing smartly, and looking after your appearance you will not only feel more confident, but also come across more confident. When you look at your clothes, how do they appear? Are your trainers dirty or do your T-shirts have holes in them? If so, why not go to the shop and replace them with something new. You don’t have to spend a lot, it’s just about making yourself look presentable however you want to portray yourself. The Way Your Speak
How you communicate to others is just as important as how you look and act. When speaking to others do you drop your t’s, or swear a lot. Depending on who you are around this may not matter, but when meeting new people, in a new scenario it could. Make sure that you adapt when in new places and communicate in a way that you think fits. We don’t mean change who you are, but if you are in a board meeting would your client expect you to swear? Probably not. It’s small changes like no swearing that can help you come across in a better, more positive way.
Putting Yourself In Other’s Shoes
When having a debate or just a conversation with another person, do you try and empathize with them? Being able to put yourself in someone else’s shoes is a key skill to work on and a great way to better yourself. By trying to understand how someone is feeling, you will be able to assist them better and hopefully come out with a better outcome. It could be that they need your help and you encourage them to stay safe.
