In the last few years, Covid-19 has made it so working from home is the new normal. Many people who set themselves up temporarily at their kitchen table or on their lap are now faced with the decision of working from home permanently.  When it comes to WFH, there are positives and negatives. You may save money on your regular commute, however, working remotely can included more added expenses to your household bills.

If you are still working from home, or it’s going to become your new normal, you are going to looking for some ways to help keep the costs down. From using https://physicaladdress.com/ to cutting costs on the light there are many ways you can cut back and save working from home.

Let’s have a look at some of the ways you can do this below:

Turn Down Your Thermostat

There are always little ways that you can save on your energy costs. Turning your thermostat down slightly can help to bring your costs down slightly, especially if you are working from home during the winter. On top of turning the heating down, you may want to consider switching energy suppliers and saving some cash that way. This applies even more if your contract term is over as your prices may rise. You may also want to see if your local government has any grants on offer to improve the efficiency of your home.

Be Smart With Lighting And Electrical Items

If you are usually out all day in the office, your technology and lighting will usually be off, therefore your electricity costs will be lower than if you were working from home. When working from home you are in your house all day, as well as running your computer and Wi-Fi, in the darker months, you will likely have your lights on too. This can quickly increase your bills far beyond what you are used to, but it is something you can tackle. Make sure you only have the lights on in the rooms you are using, you turn your computer/laptop completely off when you aren’t working, and don’t leave TVs, etc on in the background.

Work Away From Home

It may sound a little against the idea of working from home on the face of it, however, instead of working in your own home using your lighting and electricity, why not think about working somewhere else? Now that restrictions have eased, working from home can be looked at as remote working. This means you can work from wherever you want if it is permitted by your employer. Working elsewhere can significantly reduce the costs of remote working, just make sure you aren’t sitting in a coffee shop ordering coffee after coffee, this is likely to cost you more.

These are three easy ways you can keep your costs down when working from home. Remember, it is normal for your costs to rise slightly, all you need to do is make sure you consider these before deciding to work from home permanently. Do have any other tips that could help to keep costs down?
