Having a clean online presence is the key to successful marketing and promotion. If you want to be taken seriously by your audience, they mustn’t see anything negative about you or your company.

Everyone knows how quickly information can spread on the internet, so it’s crucial that you learn from your mistakes and always have a plan for when things go wrong. With that in mind, here are steps to help you create a cleaner online presence!

Get Rid of Old Content

This is the first and most crucial step of a clean slate, includes deleting old content that you no longer want on your site and removing any outdated links or posts. If you have a blog post about how to make an apple pie from scratch, but now people bake apple pies in an oven instead of frying them? Delete the recipe!

To clean up your online presence, you first need to get rid of old content. You can use software like Social Blade or Hootsuite for this step. Next, delete any social media accounts that are no longer relevant to what you do now and close all associated email addresses and phone numbers.

Create a Social Media Strategy

Each social media platform has its etiquette and culture. Spend time understanding what each is about, then create a strategy for your posts based on that knowledge.

What you post on Facebook might not go over well with Instagram followers or Twitter fans. Don’t bother wasting time figuring out how all of them work – focus on one at a time until it becomes second nature before moving onto another platform.

Engage a Reputation Defender

There are a lot of reasons why you might want to engage a reputation defender. For example, if your company has suffered negative publicity from an incident that was not its fault, it can be challenging to get things back on track with the public. That’s when hiring someone who is experienced in this field and knows how to tackle these issues quickly can come in handy.

They will work hard at getting your company’s name out there again by crafting a more positive narrative about what happened or creating social media campaigns around topical information related to your industry, so people aren’t thinking about the past event as much anymore.

Update Your Privacy Settings

As social media use has become more mainstream, internet users may not be aware of the level of personal information they are sharing online. As a result, Facebook and other popular sites have default settings that allow for a broader audience than intended; these can usually be changed by going into Settings on their website or app.

These privacy settings should also include any third-party programs you might use to access your account. Therefore, it’s essential to evaluate all the places where you log in with one username and password to avoid giving away too much information about yourself or your company.

In conclusion, a clean slate on your social media accounts can make a huge difference in how you are perceived. Just by following these steps, you will be well on your way to establishing and maintaining a cleaner online presence.
