I love the classics! I try to read at least one a year, if not more. I read ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ many years ago and enjoyed it immensely. It is probably the most popular Detective Hercule Poirot stories by Agatha Christie. I chose to read it again. It did not disappoint.
The Orient Express is a luxurious train traveling at full capacity from Istanbul to London through the Balkan Mountains. A snowstorm in the mountains has stopped the train in the night. And, when morning comes, an American mogul is found stabbed to death in his compartment with the door locked from the inside. How could that be? And what is the motive behind this unthinkable crime? It’s unlikely anyone has left the train. So, the killer must still be on board.
Of course, one of the passengers is none other than the acclaimed Detective Hercule Poirot. He immediately begins questioning all the passengers and crew to determine everyone’s whereabouts the night before. The passengers and crew are an eclectic group and surprisingly most of them have crossed paths at one time or another. All are suspects at this point. Only Hercule Poirot can sort through the clues and the chaos to reach the truth. He must do it quickly though before the killer strikes again. A true classic mystery to enjoy!
