If you are somebody who loves learning English, art, drama or technology at school, you can probably safely say that you are a very creative individual. When you hear the word office or cubicle, you might clinch a little because the idea of being hemmed in doesn’t appeal to you. If somebody tells you that you cannot travel because there is a pandemic, your feet may start to itch because as a creative individual, you need to spread your wings, and see everything possible. Finding the right career when you are a creative individual is not an easy thing to do.
There are so many jobs out there that are geared towards STEM individuals, so science, technology, engineering and medical positions are often in high demand. But there is still room for graphic designers and those who go to guitar building school, and those who enjoy music or want to play in a band. We need people out there who are interested in the arts and are interested in typography. We need somebody who can bring imagination to life through the page that they are drawing on via their iPad. With this in mind, you might be wondering what you could do for the rest of your life. Finding something to fall in love with and do as a creative career isn’t easy, but it is possible, and here we have some suggestions.
- Graphic designer. If you love to draw in the margins and you love to judge a book by its cover, you’d be an excellent graphic designer. Making visual design come to life on a screen is so super satisfying, and graphic design is a big subset of the big graphic and communication design companies out there and therefore there is a career out there for you.
- Video game developer. On the back of graphic designing, what about video games? If you love the game and you love the way that people can bring their imaginations to life in a digital world, then video gaming could be the big business you need to get into. Did you know that the video game market across the US rates at $65 billion a year? That number is going to grow and grow and that means you could be involved in that.
- Photographers. From weddings to newborn babies, to products and commercial photography, you can get those creative juices flowing and start snapping. If you’re the sort of person that loves Instagram and cannot help documenting the world around you, then putting a camera in your hand and going traveling around the globe to take pictures could be exactly what you need.
- Content writers. It’s about loving the English language earlier on, but if you love any language and you know how to create prose on the page and you can rhyme like a great poet, why not do content writing? You can write for companies, you can write websites, you can indulge in technical writing and editing, and you can even get to know script writing in good detail. It’s not easy to be a writer, but when you are one you are going to succeed.
