Locals can expect something new to show up in the Circleville area before the month ends – a brand-new store that is opening up in the former Peebles location on State Route 23.
Gordmans Department store was originally founded in 1915 in Omaha, Nebraska – with other locations in the south and west.
Lynn Walker, the Clinque Counter Manager at Peebles shared with us about the upcoming transition from Peebles into Gordmans.

“We [Peebles] are closing June 15th and re-opening as the Gordmans on June 27th.” She went on to explain that: “Gordmans is an expanded home store – we will still have men’s, women’s and children’s clothing. The new store will be similar to a Burlington or a TJ Maxx.”
Gordmans’ website states, “Expect bigger brands and smaller prices at every turn. And we don’t just say it, we stand behind them with our Lowest Price Guarantee. That means you never have to hunt to find your treasures – they’re already at the lowest possible prices.”
Lynn shared that the company that owns Peebles bought Gordmans, which is going to expand on the number of locations that they have. Gordmans currently has 105 locations in twenty-two states.
“When they bought Gordmans, they did research and realized that it would be a good fit for all the stores in Ohio. There are over thirty [Peebles] stores closing in Ohio, and changing into Gordmans.” Lynn explained.
Peebles will remain open until June 15th to allow for locals to stop in and browse last minute sales. Gordmans will open on June 27th and will be located at 23543 US-23 S in Circleville, Ohio.
