Dreary Day Turns Bright – Poetry
Echoes of the rain
tapping lightly on the window pane,
stirs her awake this morning.
With one look outside,
she wants to hide beneath those cozy covers
until this gloomy day disappears.
She pulls the curtains closed,
adjusts the dial on the thermostat,
turning the lights up bright.

Wearing her favorite island attire,
a bathing suit indeed,
she sets a lounge chair in the living room
tuning the television to ocean waves.
Grabbing her favorite book
she sits down
making the most of life
on this dreary day.
Brenda Arledge was born and raised in New Holland, Ohio and presently resides in Washington Court House, Ohio. She has enjoyed writing poetry since she was as a young girl learning to write words. She believes poetry is the turmoil of one’s emotion that comforts the soul connecting people together. Now a person with a disability, she tries to accomplish the desires she wants to fulfill.
