Some homeowners enjoy spending time outdoors tending to their outdoor spaces and making them look stunning, especially for the warmer months of the year. They are the types of outdoor spaces that youd find on the cover of gardening magazines.

If you have a lawn large enough to use a ride-on lawnmower, the trouble is that garden maintenance can consume a lot of your time. Youre likely here today, reading this page because youd like to dedicate more of your spare time to other things and less to gardening.

With that in mind, check out these actionable tips and tricks to make your lawn easier to maintain, whether its a small plot of land with grass or a garden that spans an acre or more:

1. Clear Away Some Vegetation

Does your lawn resemble a forest in some parts? Plus, do you feel like youre fighting a losing battle to keep those areas under control and at a manageable level? The solution might be easier than you think: clear away some unwanted vegetation.

If the afflicted areas are small, you could probably tackle the job yourself. Otherwise, it can make sense to use a forestry mulching service. In case you wondered, forestry mulching is an all-in-one solution that can remove things like tree stumps and level the ground.

Once the ground gets cleared, you can then plant some grass seeds over the top of it and create an easy-to-manage lawn. Alternatively, you might want to put down some wood decking and make an attractive garden feature like a raised deck for entertaining.

2. Choose Different Plants

Some plants require minimal maintenance and are pretty hardy, especially during the winter, whereas others need almost daily attention to stay healthy and flower as intended. If your plants fall in the latter category, its worth considering a change to low-maintenance ones.

A general rule of thumb when looking at new plants to put in your garden is to choose ones that best suit your gardens conditions. Dont choose plants where you need to extensively adapt your garden to suit them.

Its also worth remembering that some plants prefer dry climates, whereas others thrive in wet conditions. You may desire a specific look for your lawn, but you should still think about which plants are best suited to the weather conditions in your area.

3. Install a Sprinkler System

Does it take you a long time to water your lawn and your plants each day? If the answer is yes, now is the time to consider investing in a sprinkler system. There are many options for sprinkler systems on the market, so youll find one that is a perfect fit for your garden.

One point to note is that you should determine if your water pressure is strong enough. Otherwise, you may need to use a system that incorporates a small pump.

4. Install Animal Deterrents

Lastly, if your garden gets damaged a lot by uninvited animal guests, its worth looking at animal deterrent solutions. For example, if you keep getting cats fouling your lawn, ultrasonic cat repellents emit noises that scare them off.
