So you have been elected Mayor of Machi Koro, a small hamlet, but like all Mayors it is your task to grow your small town into a bustling city!

It will not be easy, you start the game with just a WHEAT FIELD and a BAKERY, 3 bucks, and the mechanism of your success – a single die!

What will determine your success? The game will end when one of the competing Mayors builds their 4 landmarks of success! What are these landmarks? They are a Train Station, a Shopping Mall, an Amusement park and a Radio Tower.

On your turn, you will roll the die, and you then will activate off of your buildings/properties that have that die number on them. So when/if you roll a one, your Wheatfield will produce a coin for you. Now the fun begins. You can take your money and invest in NEW properties. Maybe a Ranch, or a Stadium, or do you buy another Wheat field? Now, sitting around the table and watching other people roll dice is not that fun, so you can also buy properties that activate on other players turns when they roll the appropriate number!. So do you buy that Café’ so that when one of your neighboring Mayors, rolls a 3 they have to visit your Café’ and pay you a dollar? Always a fun time when your opposing Mayor has to pay you money, and you hear them grumble under their breath.

At some point, you will need to invest in properties that need a 7 thru 12 to activate. So, don’t forget to build your first Landmark, the Train Station that gives you the choice of rolling one die or two dice on your turn. So as your city begins to grow and get more prosperous you will need to invest in bigger and better properties such as a stadium, factories, restaurants, and markets with the higher numbers.

Each Mayor can choose their own path to victory and when that fourth landmark is built you will be the named the best Mayor, get reelected and then in most game groups gets to name the next game played. Which for many will be another game of MACHI KORO.
