Crazy 4 Popcorn Gourmet Popcorn – Small Business Highlight

Crazy 4 Popcorn is a family owned and operated local popcorn shop in Lancaster, Ohio – specializing in gourmet popcorn in a wide variety of flavor. They opened about two and a half years ago and have been around ever since.
“We have many different flavors of popcorn, with thirty to thirty-five different styles and flavors going all at one time. Everything is popped, cooked and flavored right here in the store. The only thing we don’t do is grow the corn [in the store].” Lewis Shuman, one of the owners, shared about the shop.

Crazy 4 Popcorn is owned and operated by Jennifer Shuman and her husband, Lewis – who both have had a blast on this adventure the last couple of years.
“We’re a small mom-n’-pop shop. It’s just my wife and I, with some extra help from the family. They graciously help us when we need their help and, while we’re pretty small, we’re enjoying it! We’re happy to be here, and, even though we’re still small, the community has taken us in with open arms, and we appreciate everything that everyone has done for us!” Lewis admitted.

While they offer a wide variety of flavors, their most popular flavor had to be their caramel popcorn.
“Our most popular flavor is, hands-down, our caramel popcorn. It’s a dark, deep, and rich old-fashioned blend of caramel.” when he explained the flavor of the popcorn, you could almost taste – and boy, is it ever good!
So where did the desire for making such good, delicious popcorn?
“It was mainly my wife. She grew up with this style. Her grandmother taught her how to caramel corn over the stove, they pulled taffy, cooked the corn. You know, all those baking things, and it stuck with her throughout the years!”

While you’re visiting Crazy 4 Popcorn, Jennifer and Lewis like to make sure that their customers are taken care of. They let you sample the different popcorns, give recommendations and even encourage making your own special blends! Two flavors can make a unique mix of anything from sweet and salty, to fruity or just salty! One of their more unique combinations has to be their Lancaster Mix – which consists of caramel and cheddar cheese mix, the perfect blend for the sweet and salty lover!
It’s evident from the moment that you set foot in Crazy 4 Popcorn, just how open and caring Jennifer and Lewis are. They go above and beyond for their customers.
“We appreciate how they [the community] opened their arms to us and accepted us, and support our store. We enjoy people coming in and talking to us, telling us about their day, about what they’ve got going on at that time, so we try to make it more than just a place to buy popcorn, we want to know our customers at a little bit deeper level. So you know, you come in as a customer, and you leave as a friend.”
